opening MP4 video pixelated

That is a very valuable piece of information. All thing being equal, if two work and four don’t it would point to the video source as the problem. Could it be that YouTube allows for different audio compression to be used and the four that don’t use a different codec than those that do.

How about this… post a link to one of the YouTube videos that doesn’t work and I’ll download it to my PC and see if I get the same problem. We can work it out from there.

OK, I downloaded this Disneyworld video using Keepvid for a high quality MP4.

I have also tried converting my home video. It was vob file in a Video_TS folder. I converted one file the same way with Super(same codecs) and it also loses the audio after 2 seconds.

Colleen, I converted it using the utility I mentioned and it loaded and played just fine for me.

As far as VOB files, the usual recommendation is to use the File – Import – DVD Camcorder Disc option.
While originally designed for miniDVDs, it works just as well on full-sized (non copy-righted) discs.

As for the vob files, they are saved on my computer. I no longer have the home made disc(it was sent to grandparents). So in that case is it better to convert to avi to use in Sony?

You can still use the utility I mentioned.
Open it up and, in the window where it says “No Disc available”, drop it down to “Browse”.
Browse to the folder where your VIDEO_TS folder is located and click OK.
Be patient as it may take some time.
Check your VIDEO_TS folder afterwards as it may have created a new folder there for extraction purposes.

I did as you said and pulled down to browse. I can find my folder, but the “OK” button will not activate so I can’t grab it.

You can’t click on the VIDEO_TS folder.
I know because I’ve been caught on this a few times myself 🙂

It has to be the parent folder that it resides in.
If you have more than one VIDEO_TS folder inside the parent folder, create a new folder, move the desired VIDEO_TS folder into that one and try it again.

I tried moving it to it’s own folder and can get it to Sony, but it won’t drop into the timeline.

After you click OK, it will take some time for the conversion to happen before you’ll see anything (mpg files) show up in the Media Pool.

My mistake it did drop in. It was so tiny I didn’t see it. The vob file is 3 minutes and it only drops in 20 seconds worth.
