Opening Illustrator files in AE to use with Trapcode 3D Stroke
Hi Folks,
Was trying to copy and paste AI CS2 illustrations into AE7 to use with Trapcode’s 3D Stroke.Q1 – Why can’t I copy/paste into AE7?
Q2 – I import the AI drawing as footage/comp but as soon as I use Trapcode’s 3D Stroke on it, the drawing disappearsAll I need to do is bring in AI Illustrations into AE7 and use Trapcode 3D Stroke on it…
Pls help

In Illustrator you have to make sure that the clipboard preferences are set to paths (I don’t know the exact name as I don’t have Illus here). Then copy the path, go to AE, create a new solid and just create an empty mask. Doesn’t matter what sort. Now just highlight the mask shape and paste. Bingo! Now just set your mask to NONE so it doesn’t actually mask the solid and apply trapcode stroke.

Thanks Alex, was playing with it last night and found that it is really a copy/paste process (don’t know why it didn’t work before I posted the question). Drew a box (path) selected it, copied it, and pasted directly (Ctrl-V) into AE7. Thank you very much for your input
