  • opening a clip in the trimmer at that clip’s time.

I’m new to DaVinci, coming from Vegas. One key thing that I commonly do while editing, is to right click on a timeline event and open that media in the trimmer. Vegas will open it with my cursor at the same point in the footage as I was at on the timeline. This is pretty critical for me as so often I’ll want to see what an interviewee said in their interview just prior to a statement in my edit.

    Thanks for any help.

Have you tried reading the manual and/or going through some basic training for Resolve? Ripple Training has a pretty good core training series.

Thanks! Match frame is what I was looking for!
For anyone else with this question, the answer is to select the event on the timeline, then press “F”, or select
Timeline —>Match Frame from the dropdown. That will open the clip in the source edit window with that clip selected and the cursor exactly where it is in that clip on the timeline. This can also be used to restore a timeline clip’s audio that has been accidentally deleted.
