Recently I started working with 3d layers in AE7. I am working on a PC with a core2duo 6600 and a geforce 7900gs. When I try to use the openGL preview, if opnGL is set to faster, I get a correct preview, but the animations run at a slower pace compared to the ram preview. If openGL is set to more accurate, I get a weird looking preview, pink\purple colors and no lights, details, alpha mattes or anything…
AE7 says that all features are fully supported on my GPU.
I have a second PC which is identical, except that instead of the 7900gs there is a quadro 1500 and it works fine with openGL previews.
Anyone knows about specific issues with the 7900gs or if there is anything to be done?
    Many thanks in advance.

make sure you have the latest drivers for the card.

however, if your previews are faster w/o opengl, don’t use opengl, use adaptive resoultion. there are actually only a few opengl accelerated effects in ae7. although there are several opengl accelerated features like blending modes and motion blur, most users prefer to disable opengl (it kind of a flakiness vs beneift scenario).

also, unless you use opengl for you final renders too (enable it in the render settings) your final render will actually look a little different than your preview due to the difference between how opengl calculate te render and for ae’s render engine calculates things.
