Anybody know if there’s a solution for animating a zoom on a map – preferably using open source (aka free) maps?

Popularly called my client that wants to “zoom in on google maps” and show some stuff.

It depends on the Resolution of Images that you will download. Images should be of High Resolution.

What kind of zooming effect you want to create? Similar to Google Earth?

    Check this tutorial:

Yeah I know that tutorial. And yes I want a Google earth zoom sort of.
I just want to know if theres any good maps resources that lend themselves well for after effects animations. And open source preferably.

Well…Google maps are available at hi-rez, but they cost. I honestly don’t think that you’re going to find any free stuff – it costs a little bit to put a satellite up there, so you’re not going to get it free.
