Activity Forums VEGAS Pro “Open in audio editor”

I’m trying to raise volume levels and work on some echo, and when I select “Open in audio editor’, the timeline in Cool Edit Pro doesn’t show a normal audio visualization. It is totally green (obviously overdriven levels) and all I hear is metallic noise. I thought it might be importing the video along with audio, but when I “cut” the video track, the same thing happened. What am I doing incorrectly?
I’m using Vegas 7 in Windows XP/4G memory, and I know that both programs work in XP (but not together yet).

    Thank you,

    Don

Does the waveform look normal in Vegas? (Not square waved)? Vegas was just an audio editor for the first two versions and can do alot with editing audio, If all else fails, try rendering the file as a Microsoft Wave, then open it in Cool Edit. Danny

Have you tried ‘open a copy’ in sound editor rather thatn ‘open file’; in sound editor?

Yes. I was able to do it. But that’s as far as I went. I wasn’t sure if (a) the metadata is attached to the “copy”, so I can save the copy as a file and re-import the improved file to the timeline in a way that it will snap (sync) to the video file and (b) does Vegas have a procedure for removing echo (or, at least, reducing it)?
I’ve read about making a copy, putting it on another track in reverse phase and playing with the settings.

    Thanks Terry

It will be saved and placed in the timeline as a ‘take’.
