Open Captions/srt files/manual input extremely buggy and unusable
Anyone have a workaround for captioning? I started with an .srt file but Premiere doesn’t allow anything to be adjusted for fonts, colors, placement, etc. Also, .srt’s are still importing at SD with no option to change to HD for importing. At one point I thought it was working but then it was frozen on only the first line of text, so I could see the different text on the timeline but the display was locked on the first line. I resorted to manually building each line as a separate caption and was able to make changes, see everything on screen, etc. On export, I checked the dropdown to include captions but the final output has three lines of captioning and THE REST THEN HAVE DISAPPEARED AGAIN.
WTH? I put in a bug report but wondering if anyone has an answer or decent workaround.

Oh, and now I’ve reopened the project to discover the text is still showing in the captions dialog and on the timeline, but in the Program monitor everything displays as “Type Caption Text Here”. Yay.

Hi Steven,
For open captions you never should use the CC editor in PPro.
A free option would be to use my psTitles – but there are limitations.
1) you need to have PhotoShop
2) you need to convert the SRT to a Spruce STL
3) no detailed style support.For 2) there are several free converters available on the internet.
The commercial option is to use Sub bits from VideoToolShed.
