    Hello!

So I’ve just started using the open captions tool. I want sub-titles with a semi-transparent box behind. Unfortunately I’ve come across a few issues and wonder if there are a solutions.

First, if I alter one title then this requires the entire string of titles has to be rendered again – and as my project is quite graphics intensive, and has lots of titles, this takes a loooong time. Tried nesting the timeline and applying captions to the nest but this didn’t help. Also tried splitting the captions but again, no luck.

Second, when creating a new title, it doesn’t snap to the edit, so for each title I have to zoom in and manually ensure it’s frame accurate.

Third, I wanted an automatic semi-transparent box behind. That’s fine, but the box is uneven, the top is way higher than the text and the bottom is bang up against the text, so it looks unbalanced. Couldn’t see a way to modify this. Could use the crop tool, but then I have to adjust each title as some pages have two lines some only one.

Finally, I wanted some titles to mix up and down. I can do this with the pen tool, but not with a transition, which would have been quicker, and neater.

Wondering whether the old title tool might not end up being quicker – even though I have to create the background box for the text manually ….

Also tried the new graphics panel, but again as far as I can see the box has to be created manually, so no easier than the old text tool.

    Any ideas most welcome!

    Thanks, Ken.
