Can’t seem to figure this one out. I built a simple menu in photoshop. See it here: https://d.pr/i/yt53
I only had one button: play. In photoshop I converted that layer to a smart object.

Once in Encore, everything seems great and normal until I preview the DVD. At that point, only half of the text of the play button highlights. See here: https://d.pr/i/9MER

I tried deleting the layer in photoshop and re-creating it, then re-importing the menu to Encore. That didn’t work. I tried building a button within Encore and it still did it. I’m not sure what more to do. Any ideas?

Use these instructions to build menus in photoshop. It is a little hard to evaluate since you have no “button” in your first screenshot.

Sometimes buttons placed toward the edges of the screen have issues, even if this is not, strictly speaking, a title safe issue.

You may also see what you are getting when you are using a vector layer that is not positioned correctly for your button position.

You need to make the button a “group” ie create a group and name it (+) Play.
Then in the group you put your text and a layer named (=1) Highlight and put your highlight on that group.

You could look at this to get an idea https://vimeo.com/album/214460/video/11034327
