I am trying to do a watermark in procoder but am a bit confused. Procoder has a bitmap keying option, so as far as creating an image with a blue background and then keying out the background, that is not a problem. However, how do you make the image that is left a watermark? In other words make it transparent?

It says it supports an alpha channel, but I didn’t think bitmaps supported alpha channels? When I create one in after effects or photoshop it doesn’t have an alpha channel.

    Any ideas?

    Thanks!

Just make a TIFF with an alpha. That should work.

    Photoshop’s help is pretty comprehensive.

Negative. It says “this file format is not supported.”

    Try saving as Targa.

No dice. I did a 32 bit targa in photoshop. ProCoder did allow me to import it and did recognize it as an image with an alpha channel. (It wouldn’t allow a tiff.) However, the watermark didn’t show up at all. Called tech support. They were clueless.

Very frustrating considering the ability to add a “watermark” was one of the main reasons I shelled out the $450.

    Anything I am missing here?

Oh, and did I mention the classic response from tech support? When I mentioned that I couldn’t get the watermark feature, his suggestions was “That is something you should do to your video in your video editing program.” If I wanted to do that, why the heck would I buy ProCoder?!?!?! Then, when I said that bitmaps don’t do alphas, he said, “Use a JPEG.” Then I said, JPEG’s don’t do Alpha’s he said, “Use a PDF.” A PDF?!?!?!?!?!?!

I think I am going to have to get BH to give me a refund. Does Cleaner do REAL watermarks?

    thx!

For what it’s worth, I’ve been able to do watermarks in ProCoder just fine. So it does work. I can’t remember if it was a chroma-keyed or alpha channeled one.
