June 4, 2006 at 2:11 amalthough MPEG-4 is a native QuickTime codec there are a whole world of potential variations in its structure depending on its particular MPEG profile, format, spatial quality, embedded audio format etc etc … if you have a small sample then its easiest to just try it

June 4, 2006 at 8:01 amI have a video tutorial on how to create timelines to edit non-native codecs in FCP at http://www.proapptips.com/shane
It is called EDITING NON-NATIVE CODECS IN FCP. Handy trick. BUT….you will not get any (or darn few) RT effects. But you will be able to edit without having to render every clip dropped into the timeline.
