I haven’t run into this one before, and I’m stumped.

I’m using Sony Vegas Pro 8.0. Usually the rendered audio sounds exactly like the mix. But for some reason, I’m hardly getting anything from the video sound (the music bed is fine) after rendering to .mp4 (MainConcept AVC/AAC).

    What am I missing?

Well, found the problem… It was in the “Should Have Been Obvious Department.” In case anyone else has the same problem, it was a matter of the Preview mixer not showing me the true output (still not sure why), and also the track volume being turned down too far on the video track.

I had created this video as a version of a previous project, and deleted the old video but pasted in the new clips without noticing that the volume slider was not set at the default 0 db.

Doh! On the other hand, it’s nice that it wasn’t something more complicated like a bad codec. 🙂
