One animating pattern across a 3d cube.
Lets say i want paint to splat on the top of and drip down the sides of a cube.
Instinct would suggest I start with a precomposed splat video, mask that into 9 squares and then duplicate the layer with each masked square as a separate layer and rotate them appropriately. BUT I would like the splat to be seamless from wall to wall and cutting the one square video into 9 squares (lets assume in t a cross pattern) cuts out big portions of the original. I feel like the best solution would involve some warping and unwarping.

It might be worth exploring the idea of projecting the video of the splat using a light and a video layer with a shadow.
It’s kinda hard to demonstrate as there appears something wrong with the image links on this tutorial by Rick Gerard, but I think this would work:

YES! I have since discovered 3D projection and am absolutely in love it’s opening up SO many new possibilities including projection based motion tracking which is a mindblower.
