Activity Forums VEGAS Pro Once more: settings for rendering

  • Once more: settings for rendering

I am working on my first Vegas (Pro 9) project and trying a few settings for rendering just to make sure I’m on the right track from the start.

I am starting from (Panasonic)AVCHD converted to Cineform and want to make a bluray iso image for playback on a mediaplayer. I tried: Burn Disc > Burn Blu-ray disc > Sony AVC and Blu-ray 1920×1080 50i, 16Mb/s. Seems to work fine. So, are these the ultimate settings for my purpose? Why is there a MainConcept Mpeg-2 format under Burn Blu-ray disc? I thought this was for DVD?

If a also want a menu, I guess I need to use DVD Architect? If I use (under Render as)Sony AVC, what is the use of AVCHD 1920×1080 50i besides Blu-ray 1920×1080 50i?

Why is there no DVD Archtect template for Bluray, while there is one for DVD (MainConcept Mpeg2 format)?

About the dual rendering operation for audio and video, is this just performing twice the same (rendering) operation (>Render as), once with a video type and once with an audio type?

    Any clarification is welcome.

Yes. 16Mbps AVCHD is what Blu-ray discs use.

Blu-ray also supports MPEG2. if you were shooting HDV 25Mbps MPEG2 you would use this option.

If a also want a menu, I guess I need to use DVD Architect?

    Yes.

I believe the AVCHD template includes video and audio while the Blu-ray template is video only because you would render your audio separately as AC3.

Why is there no DVD Archtect template for Bluray, while there is one for DVD (MainConcept Mpeg2 format)?

All of the templates that start with “Blu-ray” under Sony AVC and MainConcept MPEG2 are DVD Architect templates.

    Yes.
