    Premiere CS6 has two places to define your audio device. One is “Default Device” in “Audio Hardware”. The other is “Audio Device” in “Playback”.

    Why two different settings? Is there an underlying logic?

    From my experimentation Playback controls the timeline monitoring while Audio Hardware affects the source monitor. Not that it makes it any more sensible…

    I’m on a Mac (10.6.8) with a Blackmagic Extreme 3D+ card.
