I’m working on a music instructional DVD that shows black and white guitar chord grids on screen. The program used to create the notation exports as 1 bit 2 color (black and white) png files. I’ve applied the advice given a few days ago about using the broadcast colors filter as well as the gaussian blur and the “reduce interlace flicker” option (although that doesn’t seem to do anything, at least on the external preview). Looks pretty good on the television screen now, still some crawling edges on the chord grids. Now the problem is that it looks overly blurry on the computer screen. People who buy these DVDs will be viewing them on both the TV and the computer. Is there some fix I don’t know about where the still images can look good on both screens? Also applies to video in general. Because of the color temperatuere difference, DVDs (or at least the ones I make) are a lot darker on the computer than on the TV. I’m sure I can’t be the only one fighting this problem… Any advice is greatly appreciated.

How about using your video camera to shoot the cord patterns off of your LCD computer screen…

It might look better. If not Print them out and shoot them off of the printed paper.

It’s low tech, but it should work..

didn’t even think about going low tech, how funny is that… that might make the video look kinda cheesey though I think.. If I shot them on the computer screen, each one would then become an avi, not a still image?
