Can anyone tell me the best way to approach a job i have coming up.. It will appear a bit like the ipod ads only the figures will be white silohetes…
I dont know if there will be shading details on the figures or not. The figures have been shot agianst non blue or green screen backgrounds, infact against the school where the peice is set. I reckon that they will have to be removed from the background using masks (frame by frame) and was wondering if there may be a quicker approach.
Also does anyone have any advice as to ways to turn the figures white once cut out. Either maintaining detail or not.
I guess i am looking for advice as to the easiest way to proceed with this project.
    Thanks in advance

Search the COW on “rotoscoping”. It’s a tedious process, but if you study your footage carefully, you’ll see how you can best used AE’s keyframe interpolation to your advantage.

For instance, if somebody is swaying from left to right, draw a mask around them at the extreme left position, keyframe the mask shape, then go to the frame where he is at the extreme right position, and draw a mask there. Do a RAM preview, and you will see the mask move from left to right. Fine-tune the mask if necessary.

Also, you can mask body parts separately if those parts just change position, not shape.

To fill the figures with white, use effect>render>fill.

There should be more tips in the COW.
