Hello. I used to work on after effects 6.0 and use automatic duck to import avid omf sequences into AE. I’ve upgraded to AE 6.5 and am having sveral problems with the duck, the pixel ratios are all funky and stuff.

Now supposedly with AE 6.5 I can import omf sequences’ without using the duck but so far i’ve had no such luck. When i try to import and amf 2.0 sequence AE tells me im trying to import a file that contains no video.

Anyone? what setting s do i use in avid to export an omf that AE will accept. I’m using the Avdi dv codec wich used to work just fine in AE 6.0…

I had a good play with this when it first came out. By OMF File, Adobe are refering to the native avid media files found in he OMFI folder on media drives,
not “eported” OMF’s. The work flow you want without the duck is to export an AAF from the avid, linking to the original media. there are however some SEVERE restrictions on what effects can exist in the exported AAF. The duck is still the way to go IMHO

yeah i love the duck too but my old verison of the duck seems to not like AE 6.5 very much. the imported comps contain the wrong clips and the clips are also one fram long by default…(if anyone know why, please tell me) so until i’ve bought the new duck i’d like to try importing AAF’s. But how do i set up the export from Avid? Previous attempts have ended up in AE saying the aaf file is an uknown format or “file is not video”.

    Thanks for the input.

I’m having the same problems and wondering if anyone else has more info on this.

I for one will NEVER use AutomaticSuck! I tried it once and it totally screwed up the project, unusable in AE and then no chance to sell it or return it when it didn’t work properly. Stay away from AutomaticSuck.

Anyway I’ve tried OMF’s of all varieties and AAF’s of all varieties and nada.
