  • OMF back to avid from AE 6.5 to get one effect

Posted by German Rubio on November 3, 2005 at 7:43 pm

    Hello everyone!!!

I use avid xpress dv 3.5 to make the cut and later i use Automatic Compositon Import v 1.0, to send the final sequence into an Embed OMF 1.0 file.

Then on After effects everithing works perfect with each clip on a layer and all.

I apply all the effects i like, but then i would like to send all the Composition back to Avid.

    My question is…

    IS IT POSSIBLE?

or i should make a MOV movie with everithing render, and import with avid?

The problem its that i like to give the “duplicate field effect” to the final sequence after work in AE, but i think that with the MOV i lose quality.

I mean, when i render a motion work made on AE PAL 768×756, everithing looks like a one field image…..but i think i lose quality.

Its there any plugin or something to get that effect?

    Any suggestion?

Sorry for the big post, and also the sentences, cause english its not my mature languaje.

    THANKS EVERYONE

export to the quicktime animation codec and you will have no loss in quality. Hope this helps.

The comp you render should be 720×576, not 768×576. I would not render to OMF, instead render to QuickTime. I would choose the Avid Codec and render to the compression you wish to use in your Avid.

    Thanks a lot both.

I should render 768×576 cause later am going to finish on a AVID ADRENALINE workstation, and the final cut would be on SD. Maybe Digibeta or Beta SP.

I know that the render for DV its 720x 576 if dont wanna remap it later.

How is it with the AVID DV codec?

    Does it work perfect?

Cause sometimes the MOV file crashes, cause the laptop takes 100% of the ram.

    Thanks again to all!!!!

PAL is 720×576, no matter if your in DV or D1.
