    Hello,
Need help on how to perhaps upgrade a lighly used older mac to edit low end feature films on.
My question is should I update some hardware and/or software to use it or try and use as is?

It the G5 and is running 10.3.9
    Final Cut Pro HD
and a duel 2 ghz (mac) processors and 3.5 g of
    ddr.

The camera is a sony ex-1.

You’d be miles ahead with an intel based mac so you could run FCS (2009) and FCP 7… Miles and miles. For starters, it’s inexpensive, and it supports what that camera shoots. I can’t recall if FCP 6 did, but if it does, you need to at least upgrade to that. FCP HD won’t work with the XDCAM files at all.

    Right.
Leopard and FCS2 will be OK to edit XDCAM in your G5.
