Old Canon camcorder problem.
I’m trying to make my Mac, (Maverick), see my old Canon mvx40i. It doesn’t seem to want to. I used to transfer footage from the camera’s tape to a Windows PC, but I no longer have one, just a laptop. I have the right cables and all, but the Mac won’t play ball.
Anybody know what I need to do to get this to work?

I’m no maven. But my Canon HG10 and HG20 import just fine into Final Cut Pro (the “new one”).

My problem was I couldn’t see the camera on the desktop, so I assumed it hadn’t mounted. But when I started FCPX, and hit Import, a window opened and there was my video.
The video is my mom, who has since passed away, so I’m very grateful for your help.
