Ok Simple question about HDlink

The HD link will serve as as a monitoring interface for editing programs like FCP and adobe right?Please tell me it does not just monitor what is fed to the inputs

Partly. It cannot be used by itself. It must be attached to a board that does SDI output. So as an example if you have one of our Decklink HD Extreme boards you would connect the HDSDI output of the board to the HDSDI input of the HDLink. This would then connect to a DVI display for monitoring.
At that point the HDLink should monitor whatever is fed through it from the card.
