Offloading media failed, HVX200 now locked up with flashing card
I’ve mounted this camera and offloaded media before on another Mac, no problem. This is an iMac with OS 10.6.2, with the HVX200 looped through the G-drive to the iMac. It mounted properly, and I dragged the contents to a new folder on the G-drive, got the “copying” window, and there it hung. after 4-5 minutes I attempted to cancel the copy; that failed. Waited, then tried relaunching finder; that didn’t help.
At this point, the HVX200 is disconnected from the computer but still says “1397 device connect” on the LCD, and the access light on the card is still flashing.
Of course, this is one card in the group that didn’t get switched to write protect. I don’t want to switch power off or to reset the camera, for fear of corrupting the card.
Any fast answers out there? -

Don’t loop the camera through a drive on a Firewire chain- especially the drive you’re copying too. It needs to be connected directly to the computer. It’s not my footage but if the camera’s stuck the only way to reset it is to switch it on and off.
