Offload P2 – the Duel is giving up

January 20, 2017 at 1:28 pmSo, for many years we have offloaded P2 footage using the Duel adapter and an old MacBook Pro with the Express32 card slot.
We’we had a few issues, the most common that the Duel is not recognized by the MBP.
But when it is, it works flawlessly. We’re offloading to RAID1 cabinets, connected to FE800 on the MBP.
But now, the Duel seems to have said goodbye.
So, what should we get instead?
Portable is required, since we need to do offload onsite.
Is there anything but the adapters from Panasonic? I read that there’s a USB3 version, but then I need to find a MBP with USB3 and FW800 (or eSATA, the cabinet has both).
Any suggestions?

January 20, 2017 at 5:46 pmI’ve not had to deal with P2 in a while…but I can say that the last MBP with Firewire 800 is the 2010 non-retina….the one I own.
