OfflineRT to Online
Hi all:
Can any one offer a concise work flow for going from offlineRT to online (pro res 422)?
Original footage Canon 5D HD and Z7U HDV (108060i) all transcoded to pro res 422 29.97 with a 1920×1080 30P timeline
I converted and brought all footage in to FCP as Prores 422 1920x 1080. I created sync multi-clips with pluraleyes for my three camera set-ups. Final Cut won’t play the three multi-clips in prores 422 so I used media manager to recompress to offlineRT HD. In a new project I can edit the multi-clips fine but I am not sure how to get the offline edits back into my main project for additional editing and online. I can edit fine in Pro res…just not multi-clips.
How do I get the offline multi-clip sequences back to my online project effectively? Reconnect media? Media Manager? When to change sequence settings etc…

Two different answers depending on if you have the media still saved on a drive somewhere. Assuming you DO have the full res media available, all you have to do is reconnect your “off-line Sequence” to your “on-line” or full rez media. For the details on how to do that there’s plenty of info in the manual.
If you NO LONGER have the full rez media available, then you will have to “re digitize” your completed sequence using the full rez original source. In your case, you would be screwed, since you’ve taken an interim step and converted original files to Pro-rez.
So, assuming that in your case you still have the files, it’s just a “reconnect”.
