  • Offline on the Timeline But Video Still there?

My external hard drive got switched off while i was working on a sequence, I rebooted the machine and when i openend up my sequence is says that six of the video files were offline on the sequence timeline, yet when I watch them they are fine. Also they do not appear offline in the bins.

How do I fix this on the timeline? So that they are no longer red and saying off-line?

    Dear Jon,

I had this problem before, I am not able to explain why FCP has problems relinking files sometimes.

Close the Project and re-open it and if these clips still appear to be supposedly “offline” you have two options:

    1. right mouse click on the clip in the sequence: re-link media

    2. overwrite the sequence clips with the ones from the browser

    you could also:

    3. find the Folder “Autosafe Vault” in “Final Cut Pro Documents” and look for the file that was safed before you got cut off. Open it and have a look if you still have the same probelm (would be kind of interesting)

    x-cuse my english cause I m german.
    bye

Or you can trash your Thumbnail Cache in the Final Cut Pro Documents folder and FCP will rebuild it.

    Should solve your issue.
