The firewire cable on my external drive became disconnected while I was editing so my video file icons all changed from images to “Media Offline”. I reconnected and now the media is there (I can watch all of the videos), but many of the icons still read “Media Offline”. I have restarted my project and even tried using autosave files, but am still having this problem. Any thoughts?

    Thanks,

    Nathan

You have to purge the FCP thumbnail cache and they will then recreate themselves.

Thanks, David. I went into the thumbnail cache folder and trashed the thumbnail cache file, but nothing changed. Is there a different way I should do it?

Oops, try closing your project, then trash thumbs, then reopen the project.

to make his offline media icons truly offline.
No need to online the icons though right?

Nothing changed right away, but once I marked an in point for the offline clips a new thumbnail appeared. Thanks.
