April 28, 2010 at 3:07 amAbout 2/3 is tape based and 1/3 is P2. This issue is happening with both the P2 and standard footage. So I’m really going to have to have 20 identical master clips if 20 affiliate clips from the same master clip appear in the timeline? There is no way to “re-affiliate” in FCP?
Jeremy, thanks so much for your advice. I really appreciate it. -

April 28, 2010 at 1:44 pmIf there’s a way to reaffiliate, I don’t know how to. I truly don’t think there’s a way.
When doing the online using the media manager, all new master clips get created anyway.

February 8, 2011 at 3:10 pmI’m also having this exact problem.
In my specific case i moved a bunch of aiff files to my main drive and then went to relink – but
as i’m sure you’ve guessed, all the file names in the “reconnect files” – “Offline files:” dialogue
box are blank eg. not there or invisible, and wont reconnect to anything.I have also tried making a new project (copy paste into fresh project technique/ trashing prefs and so on)
I am using FCP 7.03 osx10.6.6 on a quad core intel xenon. -

February 8, 2011 at 3:47 pmIn the reconnect window, if you click on the top directory, then add a specific file path (Click “search single location” and then click “search” will that bring it to life?

January 21, 2012 at 8:04 pmWow it seems that I am not the only one having bad luck with FCP and rconnecting files.
I had and 2TB Iomega external HD and one day stopped showing up in my computer so I took the HD out of the box and put it on a Next Star Hard Drive Bock. With the file recuperation program Disk Drill I could recover all my files and put them on a 2TB G-Technology HD.
When I opened my Final Cut Pro 7.0.3 I could reconnect all the project that I was working on. I had to render the files again but all went right except that for some reason only the photos that I was using for the program can´t be reconnected. It seems that they appear Offline and the path is unspecified, or sometimes the path is my old HD. I click thesearch single location to look into my new HD cause the old one is dead and my computer wont register it, well I click and it doesnt allowed my to search for it. So I just locate them in the new HD and will allowed me to select it but then it would say there are 0 files found and 0 to connect…weird eh! In the cases where the path is my old HD, it appeared as blank files…
This is just frustraiting…
I tried to import again the pictures and it seems I have “0 access denied and 0 unknow”…. but the files are in my new hard drive…
Anyone has a clue what is going on? I am afraid to delete the pictures cause they are part of my cut in the timeline….HELP! haha
