Posted by Sean Barrett on November 5, 2007 at 7:17 pm

I came to open up Final Cut today and for all of my projects stored on my external drive the media has gone offline. All of my projects on my main drive are fine. This is the message I get:

I got a “File Attribute Mismatch” message when reconnecting (and I tried it three times.) It said “Some attributes of one or more of the files you have chosen do not match the attributes of the original. This may cause problems within the sequences that are dependent on them. The attributes that differed are as follows:

    Media Start and End”

I have no clue how this happened I have been working with all my media online. Please help!

    Thanks ten million,
    Sean

    Sean,

Try reconnecting your media – does everything appear normal after you do that even with the warning?

This has happened to me before. Sometimes my media somehow gets disconnected and FCP will show everything offline. When I reconnect – even though no parameters have changed I still get the mismatch error – I just click through it and everything is fine like it was before.

    See if it works.

Thanks for the response Paul. Yes, that is what I ended up doing and it worked out okay.

    Thanks

    hi there,

I have had some media management problems with FCP too; I recently upgraded to FCP 6 and suddenly i keep getting the message :” The clip’s master is not present. Would you like to add a master clip to the browser”

It is a new project and i have just added the media: the viewer shows “(name of the clip) in (name of project)” which generally means it is connected to it _ but it’s not!

any tips or insights on this bane on my editing would be really appreciated!

    cheers

    Joe
