  • Offline Files, entire drive reconnect?

Posted by Jason Twite on June 4, 2010 at 5:19 pm

Have an issue with FCP that is popping up in two different projects each time they are opened.

The Offline Files/Reconnect box appears asking to reconnect 1 Offline Media file.
When I click “Reconnect…” the Offline Files is ‘Macintosh HD’
When I click “Locate..” It opens up the Finder window and wants me to find “Macintosh HD”
The drive is listed, as are the other 3 drives on the left side and I can navigate anywhere in the drive, no troubles.
But, how in the world do I tell it to reconnect the drive? Is it looking for a temporary file of some kind?

Any help on this problem would be greatly appreciated!

    Thanks

It’s looking for a specific file or files. Click on the hard drive so it opens up. If the file’s there, it will be highlighted.

    Hi John,

Nothing is highlighted and no specific file name(s) is given on what’s missing. Perhaps I imported a file and then moved it and reconnected it in another spot and its still looking for a temporary reference or some kind? Really not sure. The Offline Files notice is just really annoying and I know there are no aspects missing in the timeline and no Red-slashed files in the FCP Browser window.

This happens to me occassionally and I ignore it. If it a render file that’s active, I re-render, if necessary. And if no clips come up red, I tell FCP to forget about it.
