HI, I captured a ton of footage using the Offline Photo JPEG preset. The only change I made to the preset was to make the frame full size. I captured off a Sony DSR 11.

I am ready to edit. I am using the Offline Photo JPEG preset for my sequence setting. I changed it to full frame. I’ve tried it with DV aspect ratio and square pixels. No matter which setting I use all the clips need to be rendered – making it impossible to edit. I created new empty sequences to make changes in and laid in the clips each time I ran a test.

    What did I do wrong?

    Thanks, and Happy New Year.

    Hi Geralyn,
If the clips needs to be rendered, is because there is something different between the clips that you have captured and the setting of your sequence. You must look for that.
Don’t trust the capture preset that you have used. Many times FC do not identify properly the footage. Look in the browser window and make sure that ALL the parameters of your clips (aspect ratio, size, frame-rate, pixel aspect, codex…)are identical of the sequence.
If you would have FC6 would be easy. When you drag a clip to the time-line, if all the parameters are not the same, FC asks you if you want to comform the sequence setting with the clips setting.
A happy 2008 for you too.

    Hi Rafael,

Many thanks. I thought that I had changed all the parameters to the correct ones, but apparently I had something wrong. I did, however, just upgrade to 6 and found to my wonder and amazement that FCP changed my settings – hurrah.

    Best, Geralyn
