Offline capture AJA-IO LA
I am working in an environment with incredibly limited storage. I am currently capturing roughly 4 hours of industrial footage using the AJA IO LA interface. I can set up Offline Sequence settings but the AJA doesn’t seem to have a corresponding Offline Capture quality setting that will keep capture disk space to a minimum and I REALLY MEAN MINIMUM.
I have tried a couple of things but am getting no real space savings. The only thing I can do is capture 8 bit and recompress using Media Manager.
Anybody else with this problem?Chris

Do you know how to use the Io LA and the easy setups?
Hit control-q and choose form the myriad of inputs and codecs.
I would suggest capturing to DV and not 8Bit. This will also allow real time previews of footage, unlike offline rt.
Hit control-q and choose the AJA IO ‘choose an input’ 8 bit to dv.

I know about easy setup but I find that the DV codec is looking for a
firewire device and I need to log using RS-422 from BetaCam.
A few days ago I created an easy setup on this same project but in comparing
“original to modified” clip size,I wasn’t saving much space on the drive.Chris

firewire device and I need to log using RS-422 from BetaCam.”Did you simply choose DV-NTSC (or DV-PAL) or did you choose the AJA 8bit to DV Easy Setup? You need to use the AJA Easy Setup.
