I post this here because I know the Cow is frequented by many working pros and authors and I value the opinions of those who do post here.

I have a music instruction book that sells well in it’s standard paper form and I’m considering taking it down the path of becoming an iBook. If I make the plunge (which would require installing Lion on a separate partition and actually buying an iPad), this would be the time to do it while it’s a new market.

The idea of being able to release a product that is not easily reproducible and pirated is very nice. I had a bad experience a few years back selling .PDF versions of my book.

I’m excited about the ability to not only include basic text and photos, but also audio and video. I know it was possible before, but this seems different now. Also, putting out various versions of the book for different markets including academic seems like a big winner.

What are your thoughts on the new iBook Authoring?

    Anyone considering self-publishing a FCP X iBook?

    Thanks,
    Dave

Yes, I am considering the option of editing for iBooks. The iBook is another step up in the world of interactive learning. Lots of possibilities in my opinion, both for learning and work!
