May 26, 2005 at 2:25 pmIf you have a Fry’s Electronics near you, they have about a dozen or so projectors to look at. CompUSA usually has a few along with MicroCenter.
Our local COSTCO and BJ’s Wholesale usually have one or two models on display.
Might even want to look at the Best Buy and Circuit City websites to see what they’re offering these days.
You really need to just go and look at them. I’m sure just about all of these stores would allow you to connect your laptop to the projector to see what that looks like.

May 26, 2005 at 10:18 pmOk here is a suggestion maybe not for the brightest projector (only 1000 lumens) but it certainly is the best for under $3000- The toshiba MT700-
1280×720 19:9 dlp – simply amazing image especially from DVI. can be had for $2500. I use it for home theater and will start incorperating it into me editing system as well for clinets that want to see projection.

We just purchased an InFocus-X3 yesterday (we’ll see how it plays soon) because it was about a grand, light enough to travel with (6lbs.), 1600 lumens in normal mode & 1100 in whisper quite mode, & a native resolution of XGA 1024 x 768. For the boardrooms that we will use it in (seating about 6 people) showing a mix of web, graphics, video, and PowerPoint presentations will work fine.
