only recently I’ve been booting up my g5 and getting a screen I’m not familiar with – it has a grey background and a world icon in the middle; then it swithces to a flashing icon of the Finder logo on a file folder

it also will show a question mark after that and then go into it’s normal boot sequence with the apple logo

I’m not sure why this has just started happening but wondered if anyone knew anything about it?

    thanks!

    System Preferences>Startup Disk
Make sure “Network Startup” has not been selected as the startup volume. This is what is giving you the “world” icon, then the folder indicating it can’t find a System and then searches for a drive with a bootable system on it, ending up on probably your internal drive. Select that one as your startup. All will be well.
