  odd size footage in hd sequence

  I’m going to be editing a project shot on EPIC 5K transcoded to 2560x1080p 23.98 and then scaled down so the 5K aspect ratio hits the sides and will have a fat letterbox in a HD sequence. The reason I am transcoding the 5K footage to 1080 height is to allow the possibility of going full 16:9 and being able to repo the shots if needed. I just want to confirm that taking shots and scaling them down to fit a comp is an ok thing for FCP to handle. I’ve definitely taken HD footage and dropped it into an sd sequences to resize and letterbox and it seems fine. All clips are progressive, no interlacing.
