So like many, I use JKL to shuttle through my footage.

Also, I have the “Select Clip” command mapped to a keystroke (T).

Normally, what I would do is use JKL to shuttle, then immediately press T to select a clip in the timeline. It should work in theory, but for some reason, it works sporadically.

It seems like I have to go back and move the playehad in order to regain the ability to use the select clip command.

    So instead of

JKL and then “Select Clip” (works sometimes)

I have to use this instead

JKL, move the playhead, then “Select Clip”

I was wondering if somebody could confirm this behaviour.

I guess I’m looking for the equivalent of “Mark Clip” from FCP 7 and it doesn’t seem like “Select Clip” is doing the trick unless I am missing something.

Are you JKLing with skim function turned on?

This may cause what you describe…

S turns it on and off

Not a skimmer issue, at least not here (as we seem to have different bugs sometimes depending on setups)

In fact hitting C (for select clip) only works when the playhead is moving, through j-k-l or spacebar commands. As soon as you hit k or the space bar you can not select the clip…

Yes that seems to be it.

It works with J and L, but not K.

    Thanks for your help guys.
