Odd FCP Capture Problem…..logged clip settings changing at capture
I have a Dual 2.0 G5, 8G RAM, running 10.5.8, using a Kona2 card, RAID Storage, and working from a deck with DVCPRO HD to an offline SD edit (Kona ProRes HQ). I have a problem capturing logged clips. When I try to capture any clip longer than 30 seconds, it changes the clip to 34 seconds and ‘connects’ it in the bin. It changes the OUT point every time, making the clip roughly 30 seconds. I can, however, use “Capture Now” to capture as long as I want. It is not a dropped frame issue either…..already disabled that in the User Pref’s and tried with multiple tapes. This is a new system to us, so we’re working out the bugs. Please respond if you have any ideas!? Thanks.

First off, ProResHQ is not a good choice. Search the forum for all the reasons why. ProRes422, ProResLT or even proxy are better choices. What version of FCP are you using? Also, I don’t think your G5 is within spec for ProRes. I believe the minimum machine is a 2.5GHz G5 Quad.

Sorry….I thought I put the software specs….. We’re running FCP 6.0.6. The codec doesn’t seem to be the problem……as it did it when I tested it with full-res HD “AJA 1080 60i DVCPro HD” also. It seems to be something within FCP…..any other ideas?
