odd artifact caused by transition effects
When adding any transitions between clips, be it a dissolve or push or wipe or anything (both FCP efx and third party transitions) I am getting a little “jump” in the video — right at the point where the effect is done. So if it is a dissolve, as soon as the dissolve ends the video repeats a few frames and appears to “jump.”
This is FCP 7.0.3 — I am not using X yet. Imac running OSX 10.82. 3.06 GHz Intel core 2 duo.
If anyone has a suggestion I would appreciate it.

FCP doesn’t work with H.264 with any reliability. You must convert the footage to ProRes 422 before working with it in FCP. And the sequence must also be ProRes 422. You can try a possible fix of changing the sequence setting to ProRes 422. That works for some things, but not all.

Hello. I am a brand new member to the COW. Currently, I am having the same problem as well. However, I am a beginner in the editing field.
This is FCP 6.0.6 — I am using X. MacBook OSX 10.6.8. 2.16 GHz Intel core 2 duo.
I shot the footage with a Canon T3 the codec is .mov
Would my issue have the same solution as Shane explained…please help…thanks

You cannot edit the native format that camera shoots. YOu must convert it to ProRes. Compressor will do this…there are Presets for ProRes Progressive.
