How do I make an “Obscured Wipe Transition” or whatever it’s called? It’s widely used in “My name is Earl” tv series, like here: https://youtu.be/7_ArE_IinnM?t=30s (start at 30 second). Thanks!

First you just cut to a black screen .. the use the “slide” transition.

    Hi Alex

The other way to do this is to add the Push transition to the overlap of your 2 clips.

    Step 1

    Step 2

You can play with the size of your black. I also noticed that the referenced clip had soft edges. Just use the Feather option but no more than an setting of 7.

    Cheers !

Paul Berk, thank you, it seems that this is what I need!

Francois Pénzes, it’s not exactly what I need, following your example, my result is the clips themselves are moving, not the “obstacle” between them.

    Hi Alex

Well that’s what it does in your example…or close, it actual fact, there is a camera pan on top of the blackened effect. At least you got some options out of it.

    Cheers !
