  • Object moving subtly after tracking footage- Element 3D

I have a simple 3D .obj of a car I want to place in my footage. So, I 3D track my footage and create a new solid/null off of the tracking points (keep in mind my footage is mostly planar, like grass and some streets). Then I make a solid and add E3D with the car in it. However, during playback of my footage, I can see my car is moving a little off here and there for some reason in the footage while my solid is sitting in the grass just fine. Why is it doing this? How do I stop this?

From your description it sounds like you applied Element to a 3D solid. It is not used that way.

1: remove 3d option from solid , aka 3d layer untick
    2: add object element 3d
    3: click solid layer /element 3d options / create group null 1

paste tracking data to it .

after effects manually tracking dont bother , use mocha

Damn, you’re right. The 3D option was ticked. XD! I feel stupid now, but thanks anyway!

Well, I tried to make the car’s shadow by making a solid and making it 3D, and placing it under the car and now the solid moves a little. Why is it moving? And what’s a better way to make a shadow for the car?

with elment 3d u dont use solid to make shadows , u use plate within the element 3d there is object in element 3d called plate or plane or floor ,

    youtube this
    element 3d shadow
element 3d text shadow ul get the basic understanding and work from there

Ok, this is weird. I managed to pull off a good shadow, but even though my element solid isn’t 3D, the car is still moving around. I have lights set up for the shadow to work btw.

depends on your shot , use mocha to track the car and then use the data on shadow.

after effects built in tracker is useless if this is what your using
