  • Object flips when animating on circle using “Align to Spline”

Posted by Jeremy Grubaugh on February 17, 2006 at 10:15 pm

I have a car that I am tring to animate in a big loop. Simple enough right? Well I placed a simple cirle spline and used the expression “Align to spline”…only problem is the car flips upside down when it hits a certain point. Ihave tangential on because I want it to have orientation.

I feel as though there is an easy answer but my searches so far have yeilding no success. Thanks for taking the time.

Put your spline on the X,Z axis, apply align to spline to the obj. Then animate it. Now drop both in to a null obj and then rotate null back where you want it.

Make a copy of your circle spline, scale it up, check the “tangential” box in the align tag, then drag your scaled spline into the rail spline box.
