NVidia & Color
So I am putting together a new system based on the Mac Pro (model releasing in Aug). If I install a Quadro FX 4800 video card, what capability do I lose in Color?

10-bit color (which is what ProRes is. So you either work in a lower or higher bit depth. You lose a higher lever but I forget if it is 16 or 32 bit.

Thanks for the info. I am really drawn towards having the capability that the NVidia cards give to the CS5 version of Premiere Pro even though FCP will be my main NLE software (at this point at least).

Yeah there is a real fork in the road with graphic cards.

In addition to the lower bit depth, Color reproduction is slightly different in the nVidia cards, performance in Color is slower, and render speeds are slower than with ATI cards. The stock ATI card performs better than the fastest nVidia card in my experience.
