    Hi,
I just read a post a little ways down that graphic cards but I figure I’ll just ask my question anyway to get some more insight and maybe help some other prople out at the same time.

I desperatley need to upgrade my graphics card for my dell 24 inch display. At the same time I would like to get a graphics card that will work well with after effects. I researched at adobe.com and basicaly found a list of cards that were support not a list order of preformance. I am tryig to find out if its better to buy a quadro vs geforce and is more memory on the card a factor… Ex is it better to go with a geforce with more memory or spend a little more and get a quadro with less? Has anyone tested both kinds of cards? What kinds of results is everyone finding in their motion graphics and visual effect productions?

I also figure we will al know a little more once cs3 comes out but in the mean time feel free to share what you have been finding.

    Thanks,
    Tom

I never use OpenGL in AE… Despite the fact that AE says all of the OpenGL features are ‘supported’ on my graphics card (OpenGL 2.0 I guess), the OpenGL previews never look like they should. I just turn OpenGL off and forget about it, I like to see what I’m actually going to see when I render!

If you’re like me and don’t like using OpenGL, then a better graphics card (no matter how beefy) will not give you a performance boost in After Effects. If you do like using OpenGL in AE… then god help you =)

That said I haven’t used CS3 much, so I don’t know if OpenGL support is improved.
