Anybody know how to generate numerical data (like a slider or value of some kind) from video info?

What I’m trying to do is drive the brightness of a flare by the amount of white on a screen. I have a threshold that’s giving me a nice b&w image, but I’d like to turn that image into information that I can link a brightness slider to.

That way, my flare will get brighter as the on-screen image does, procedurally, no need to keyframe.

Now I better understand your question. I don’t believe there’s any way to do that.

That’s what I was afraid of. Next time I ask here first. Turns out, 140 characters, not great for describing complex compositing tasks. 🙂

Unfortunately, there are no behaviors or filters that read or store information like that although that would be a wonderful and useful addition. Suggest it in a feedback to Apple.
