number effects – something weird…
Hi,
I’m a newbie in AE, so please – be gentle…
I try to animate numbers from 200 till 900 (just for sake of argument), but it’s stuck in 200!
The weird part is if I switch ‘Type” from ‘Number’ to ‘Timecode’ – it does moving upwords!
What is the reason for that? and how can I animate the ‘Number’ and not the ‘Timecode’?

How are you animating the value? Are you setting keyframes on the Value/Offset/Random Max property?
If Type is set to one of the Timecode variants, the value is taken from the layer’s time (duration from In point), so you’ll see the number change without keyframes.

Tons of interesting and helpful threads about how to learn how to use the keyframing paradigm in AE. There really isn't a good reason to post such inquiries in multiple AE online forums. It's irritating (but I've been told that's MY problem) but it can also get you some distasteful responses like RTFM. AE is huge, really huge. You've got to spend several days working and slogging through the tutorials that come with the application and everything else you can find. bogiesan
