  • Null objects animate, their children do not…

    Hello,

I am dealing with a very strange problem. I am animating a fairly complicated puppet in AE, where null objects are controlling the hands and feet of an Duik Inverse Kinematic rig. When I move the nulls in any one point in time, the puppet moves as desired, but when I try to animate the puppet across time, the puppet does not move, while the null objects do move. I suspect it may have something to do with the fact that my controller nulls’ children (…position/rotation-children…) are nested null objects themselves? Or perhaps that the nested null objects are “zero-d” with the Duik plugin (an operation that tricks layers into thinking their position is 0x0 by parenting them to a guide layer with adjusted positions). The really strange thing is that the puppet moves perfectly in real time, but will not animate. I suspect this problem may have a quick fix that I’m overlooking.

    Thanks,

    Peter
