I have a Windows XP Pro system with an Intel E6400 and 4GB of PC6400 RAM. I also just installed Nucleo Pro 2.

Previous to the NP2 install, I was using the /3GB switch to maximize my available RAM in AE CS3. Now that I have NP2, am I better served not using the /3GB switch so that my extra core can use more RAM as needed to background render, etc? Does it make a difference if I use the /3GB switch or not?

I just want to maximize my new machine’s efficiency with the tools I have.

    Thanks.

Honestly – I would disable the /3GB switch. Its a technology meant for a different Windows variant.

The key is – you only have max of 4GB available to Win XP Pro – Period. Nucleo Pro 2 will eat up all 4GB, and the more distributed the better.

From an NP2 perspective, dump the /3GB switch. Your renders and system will benefit.
