Nucleo
Posted by Matt Wafaie on July 13, 2006 at 10:07 pmWhat’s the story on nucleo? I have a dual 64 and I like the sound of it. My Adobe production studio came with a trial version but I don’t notice any difference. Does it do what they claim it does?

July 13, 2006 at 11:44 pmabsolutely. on my dual processor Machine, I have seen drastic improvement in many cases. In some cases Nucleo won’t help and may even slow things down occasionally (It’s very rare), but overall, renders are much faster for me with Nucleo.

July 14, 2006 at 10:46 amIt truly does help on renders and previews. Nucleo Pro, that is “nucleo next generation”, will do this and much more (speculative preview or renders, background renders etc.). This will be out soon I reckon (it was announced at NAB).
For non gridironsoftware tests on Nucleo have a look at my Quad G5 Review:
https://www.fcpug.se/forum/showthread.php?p=1337Nucleo sure makes a difference! In short a Dual processor machine Nucleo can beat a Quad processor with out it and a Quad machine really screams. Then on some tests, it won’t do much good.
On my 5 comp tests the results where:
Dual G5 AE: 693s
Dual G5 NU: 462s (1.5X faster than without it!)Quad G5 AE: 454s
Quad G5 NU: 230s (2.0X faster than without it!)
