How might I up convert NTSC to 1080 30psf ProRes using Kona 3. It does a good job NTSC to 1080i 60 but there is no 1080 30psf setting. Kona Tech support said it might be coming in the next release but they don’t know if or when. Could I take it to a higher res setting and then drop it into a 1080/30psf timeline? When I drop a 1080i/60 into a 1080/30psf timeline it remains interlaced. Any thoughts?

You would have to deinterlace your Sd material first.

What’s the best way to do this NTSC deinterlacing? Will the Kona3 do it on a file or an incoming NTSC SDI input?
I also have an Axio but it doesn’t do 480/29.97P NTSC to progressive, only 24fps or 23.997 etc. like the Kona seems to be limited this same way.

[Ted Joyce] “What’s the best way to do this NTSC deinterlacing?”

There are a multitude of ways. I really like Revision’s Fields Kit:

This is not a ‘limitation’. If the footage was shot progressive from the get-go, you’d be fine. Instead, you have to fix it later.
